As the second phase of the Cluster of Cooperation (CLOC) Conéctate A+ in the Latin American region forges ahead, we are pleased to announce the two selected projects for the network’s second edition of the small grants program in 2022.

In this second phase, which started in 2021, the CLOC co-heads - the MRI, CONDESAN, and the University of Zurich - have been working to kick-start and implement planned activities that build on the online presence and collaborative platform created in the first phase, in collaboration with the additional six CLOC founding and new partners in the region and Switzerland, as well as our new associate partner - the Inter-American-Institute for Global Change Research, IAI.

Two projects selected in the seed grant program 2022 The Conéctate A+ small grants programme supports collaborative research, synthesis activities that generate outputs such as publications and kick-start integrative research initiatives, and projects focused on teaching, training, and capacity development across the thematic areas of focus of this call. Under this 2022 call, Conéctate A+ awarded small grants of up to 10,000 USD each to outstanding proposals that meet the eligibility criteria of this call.

These selected projects are:

  1. Characterization of perceptions about climate change impacts on food security in Andean populations, a consortium led by the Universidad Peruana Cayetano Heredia, Peru;
  2. Water and sustainable wellbeing: Paramos of the Tropical Andes as focal points of climate change, ecosystems, and human wellbeing (WSW_P), a consortium led by the Polytechnic Institute of Viana do Castelo, Portugal.

More information regarding the selected projects, and their proposed activities, will be published soon on the Conéctate A+ website and collaborative platform.

In the meantime, we wish to thank all the proponents for their great proposals and interest in this program, and we extend our congratulations to the grant recipients. We look forward to working with you to realise the outcomes of your planned work and for the benefit of the region.
