The Fourth World Congress of Environmental History will be held at the University of Oulu in Finland from 19-23 August 2024.
The conference theme is Transitions, Transformations and Transdisciplinarity: Histories beyond History, emphasising both the arc of time and the importance of bringing diverse approaches to bear on contemporary problems. WCEH2024 will illuminate the value of historical understandings that go far beyond the discipline of history in treating environmental scholarship as an evolving practice, one that is created in conversation across multiple fields, concerns, and communities – and one that can help strategise the core challenges of transitions that lie ahead.
Call for Papers
The Call for Papers is now open, and closes at 23:59 CET on 18 September 2023.
In order to encourage participation from colleagues from the South, ICEHO commits to making available at least $20,000 USD in travel grants to early-career scholars from low- and lower-middle-income countries, to be allocated upon application following paper acceptance.
