The Mountain Research Initiative (MRI) encourages its network members to participate in the global efforts led by the Intergovernmental Science-Policy Platform on Biodiversity and Ecosystem Services (IPBES).

These calls encompass several crucial initiatives, including a methodological assessment on monitoring biodiversity and nature's contributions to people, a second global assessment of biodiversity and ecosystem services, and the implementation of workplans for IPBES objectives. With diverse opportunities for experts and fellows, IPBES is fostering global engagement to safeguard our planet's future.

These opportunities include:

  • Experts for the Scoping of the Second Global Assessment (EM/2023/35) - Deadline: 12 November 2023
  • Experts for the IPBES Task Forces (EM/2023/37) - Deadline: 12 November 2023

Interested experts are encouraged to contact their IPBES National Focal Point regarding any country-specific processes or deadlines.

IPBES is also hosting an online dialogue on the nomination of experts and fellows on 26 October 2023, facilitating engagement among governments and stakeholders in the nomination process. Register by 20 October 2023 here.
