New Conéctate A+ review focuses on identifying the scientific evidence on the management of terrestrial ecosystems by women in the Andean region, and the most important knowledge gaps.

Women, especially rural and indigenous women, are fundamental in various processes related to ecosystems. Moreover, their role in sustainable mountain development is mentioned in international discourse. However, in practice, the inclusion of a gender perspective in policies related to conserving and managing biodiversity and natural resources seems to be insufficiently addressed. Through a literature review, this research focused on identifying the scientific evidence on the management of terrestrial ecosystems by women in the Andean region, and the most important knowledge gaps. As a result, it became evident that the positive effects of the management of terrestrial ecosystems by rural women deserve more attention in research and policy formulation so that they are recognized, valued, promoted, and sustained.

This policy-oriented review has been funded by the Conéctate A+ small grants program, which is supported by the swissuniversities Development and Cooperation Network (SUDAC) Program. The Conéctate A+ platform is facilitated by CONDESAN, the Mountain Research Initiative (MRI), and the University of Zurich (UZH).
