The Chilean Society of the Cryosphere invites researchers, professionals, and students both in Chile and abroad to its 2019 Annual Meeting. The deadline for abstracts is 15 March. The Chilean Society of the Cryosphere (SOCHICRI – Sociedad Chilena de la Criósfera) Annual Meeting 2019 will take place in the city of La Serena, 9-10 May 2019. Scientists wishing to present their research are invited to submit an abstract to This email address is being protected from spambots. You need JavaScript enabled to view it.. Submissions can be focused on any component of the cryosphere, including field-based and theoretical studies, remote sensing, numerical simulations, legal frameworks, impacts, risks, associated water resources, and others. Abstracts can be sent in Spanish or English.
A template for abstract submission can be found here. Submissions are requested to indicate whether an oral or poster presentation is preferred. The deadline for abstract submission is 15 March 2019.
During the event this year, several workshops will take place on Friday afternoon (10 May) on topics such as glacier monitoring with drones and geophysical methods. The research community is invited to indicate their interest in contributing to these workshops, or to suggest their own, as soon as possible.
Registration for the meeting will open 4 March, offering an early-bird fee of $20,000 CLP to students and $30,000 CLP to professionals until 1 April 2019. After 1 April, fees will increase to $25,000 CLP for students and $40,000 CLP for professionals. Following the meeting, a field trip to the upper areas of the Río Hurtado Basin will take place on 11 May. This activity must be financed independently by field trip attendants. Event details, such as the exact location and program, will be communicated in the coming weeks.
