Are you a student interested in a career addressing climate and environmental changes in mountain regions? Then a Student Internship at GRID-Arendal could be an excellent opportunity.

For its internship programme in autumn 2018 and spring 2019, GRID-Arendal is looking for students with a range of interest areas, including climate change vulnerability and adaptation in polar and mountain environments. The full-time programme lasts from three to six months, and offers undergraduate and graduate students the opportunity to work in a multi-cultural international organization, gaining practical work experience and developing skills under the guidance of experts.

GRID-Arendal is based in Norway and works in partnership with the UN Environment Programme and other organizations to support environmentally sustainable development. It aims to transform environmental data into credible, science-based information products, delivered through innovative communication tools and capacity building services - thereby strengthening management capabilities and motivating decision-makers to act. 

Examples of GRID-Arendal's work in mountains regions include generating new knowledge about the impacts of climate change on water availability, food security, ecosystem function, and societies in the Hindu Kush Himalaya. It has also recently undertaken policy analyses to assess the extent to which climate change adaptation concerns are integrated into national and sectoral development policies and plans for these mountain regions: Balkans, Caucasus, Central Asia, East Africa, and Andes. Its past work includes promoting the inclusion of mountain-specific targets in the Sustainable Development Goals.
