avalanche 2518679 1280The international snow science community will gather in Innsbruck, Austria, 7-12 October to discuss topics such as avalanche forecasting, technological innovation, and snow risk strategies.

The International Snow Sciences Workshop (ISSW) will bring together 1,000 scientists, policy-makers, engineers, representatives from the tourism industry and forecasting services, and other stakeholders from all around the world together under the motto ‘A Merging of Theory and Practice.’ The event aims to promote interdisciplinary exchange on recent advances in snow science.

Topics include technological innovation, protection measures, avalanche forecasting and dynamics, snow management, and guiding, rescue, and risk strategies. These will be addressed using a variety of formats, such as oral and poster presentations, panel discussions, and through an international exhibition.

All attendees are invited to contribute to the conference by submitting short abstracts of up to 500 words on any relevant topic.

Abstract submission deadline is 23 April.
