The Swiss National Science Foundation (SNSF) is inviting applications for new members to join its restructured Research Council, beginning in April 2025. Apply by 30 September 2024.

Starting in April 2025, the Research Council will be organised into a Policy Committee and five programme committees. The SNSF is looking for new members of the Research Council who are interested in serving in these committees to complement the expertise of the existing Research Council members.

The mandate as research councillor requires a commitment of 20% FTE. Within this commitment, membership of two committees can be envisaged if suitable. The main tasks of a member of the Research Council include funding policy work, the chairing of evaluation panels and the evaluation of applications. Members of the Research Council receive fair compensation.

Policy Committee

The Policy Committee analyses, coordinates and develops the SNSF’s overarching funding policies. Its goal is to anticipate emerging trends and developments in research and research funding to ensure that the SNSF remains at the forefront in its mission to fund research.

Programme Committees

The programme committees manage the SNSF funding schemes. They implement, monitor and develop funding schemes and contribute to the SNSF’s overall strategy, taking into consideration the long-term development of Swiss research. Programme committee members chair the evaluation panels.
