About

The Global Land Programme (GLP) is a global interdisciplinary network of science and practice dedicated to fostering an understanding of land systems and cultivating the next generation of science-based solutions for challenges at local to global scales.

Land serves as the foundation of human habitats, agriculture, resource extraction, and livelihoods for a majority of the global population. The GLP community engages in the study of land systems globally, exploring complex, dynamic, and interdependent social-ecological systems that integrate human activities with the broader natural environment. While land use presents sustainability challenges, it also holds the key to addressing humanity’s existential challenges and achieving sustainable development.

On behalf of the Scientific and Organizing Committees of the OSM, along with the Scientific Steering Committee of GLP, scientists and practitioners worldwide, encompassing diverse disciplines and experiences, are invited to participate in the Oaxaca gathering. The event aims to generate and rejuvenate discussions rooted in the collective and diverse knowledge of attendees, driving just and sustainable transformations.
