The SnowHydro conference will address a range of topics relevant to snow and its particular significance for hydrology. It seeks to bring together experience from experimental research, hydrological modelling, and remote sensing in order to facilitate joint research on snow science. The conference welcomes contributions on all aspects of snow and hydrology.

An emphasis will be put on the following topics:

  1.  Snow cover dynamics in mountains
  2.  Snow in semi-arid environments
  3.  Spatial variability of snow
  4.  Snow-vegetation interaction
  5.  Remote sensing of snow properties
  6.  Experimental research and new measurement techniques
  7.  Simulation models of snow, model comparisons
  8.  Snow data assimilation for modelling purposes
  9.  The prediction of snow melt and runoff
  10.  Climate change, snow conditions and water supply
  11.  Teaching concepts in snow hydrology

A special workshop will also be dedicated to the following topic: 'Mountain perspectives on snow: combining modelling, remote sensing, ground observations and the projection of future scenarios'.

The main aim of this workshop is a publication(s) in a peer-reviewed scientific journal(s), taking particular care to note the IPCC WGII’s cut-off dates for submission (1 July 2020) and accepted publications  (1 May 2021).

This special workshop will be organized on Thursday 30 January 2020.

Registration and Call for Contributions

Please register via the conference webpage: https://snowhydro.eurac.edu

For abstract submission, please use Word or a plain text file to compile the abstract (title, author(s), affiliation(s) of author(s), and abstract text). Your abstract text should be 100–500 words. Clearly indicate your preference for poster or for oral presentation. Please note that accepted speakers and poster presenters must register for the conference.

The conference committee would like to actively encourage the participation of early career scholars and postgraduate researchers.
