€50,000 to transform the ecological future of European mountains! Faced with the climate emergency that particularly threatens mountain ecosystems, the Petzl and Snowleader foundations are renewing their commitment for the fourth time to support ecological transition initiatives in the French and European mountains.
Since 2022, this unique partnership between two major outdoor players has already funded 23 projects and supported 21 associations in their ecological transformation efforts.
Our Foundations
We – the Snowleader and the Petzl Foundations – believe that it is urgent to get involved in the ecological transition in the mountains. This is why we launched our first call for projects in June 2022, to encourage change and mountain protection among associations, communities, citizen’s collectives, or public research laboratories, that act for the future.
In 2025, we are launching our fourth edition of this call for project. We are keeping the call for projects open to the mountains of Europe and Switzerland (Scandinavian Alps, Alpine Arc, Spanish Pyrenees, etc.).
The projects supported by the Snowleader and the Petzl Foundations contribute to reducing carbon emissions, protecting biodiversity, and encouraging awareness raising for climate change in the mountains. These projects must take place in mountain regions.
Who Can Apply
The call for projects is open to non-profit organizations working in their local mountain region, in France, Switzerland and Europe: Scandinavian Mountains, the Arc of the Alps, the Pyrenees, etc.
The Theme
With this new call for projects for 2025, we expect innovative solutions that respond to the specific challenges of the mountains: how to travel differently, preserve our fragile ecosystems and adapt our territories to climate change.
Here are a few examples that respond to the theme of this call for projects:
– Initiating forestry works with a positive impact on the climate, biodiversity, and landscapes;
– Mountain hut renovation, that improves thermal insulation, and eliminates fossil fuel-based energy;
– Raising public awareness and encouraging action on soft mobility and energy saving issues.

- January 2026: Project agreement and initial funding
