The Mountain Research Initiative is delighted to be supporting the fourth annual conference of the Menschen und Berge (People and Mountains) network, hosted by the Alpine Museum of Switzerland.
This one-day event will bring together participants from science, culture, art, and civil society who engage with the evolving relationship between humans and mountain environments. In a time when mountain regions are increasingly shaped by risk, rapid change, and adaptation, this conference creates space for dialogue across disciplines and practices through a mix of presentations, discussions, networking opportunities, and creative formats.
How can mountain museums, art, and other cultural projects and institutions help to raise awareness of such complex and sensitive issues – beyond catastrophizing and romanticisation? What new forms of storytelling and exhibiting are emerging in the Alpine region? And how can scientific findings and cultural/artistic forms of expression be combined?
Join us as we explore new ways of telling stories about the mountains and how they are changing.
This event will be held in the Swiss national languages of German and French.
