Permanent Secretariat of the Alpine Convention, Innsbruck, Austria.
The Presidency Officer supports the preparation and implementation of the German Presidency of the Alpine Convention (2027–2028), working under the authority of the Secretary General in close cooperation with the Permanent Secretariat. The Presidency will be led by the German Federal Ministry for the Environment (BMUKN) in cooperation with the Bavarian State Ministry for the Environment and Consumer Protection.
Key Responsibilities
- Liaising between the Permanent Secretariat, German Federal Ministry, Bavarian State Ministry, and partner institutions
- Organising statutory meetings (e.g. Alpine Conference, Permanent Committee), including logistics such as venues, accommodation, interpretation, and participant management
- Managing the Presidency fund
- Supporting communication and other Presidency-related activities
- Assisting with additional Secretariat tasks as required
Profile
- Citizenship of an Alpine Convention Contracting State or EU Member State
- Fluent German and English (additional Alpine languages an asset)
- Bachelor’s degree in a relevant field (e.g. international relations, communication, sciences, management)
- Strong MS Office skills
- At least one year of relevant experience (event organisation, financial management; international/public/non-profit sector preferred)
- Interest in Alpine issues and sustainable development
Contract Details
- Fixed-term contract until 31 March 2029 (starting 1 August 2026), including a three-month probation period
- Based in Innsbruck, Austria, with occasional travel and partial home office option
- Annual net salary: €27,254.29 (14 instalments), plus applicable allowances
- Employment governed by the Permanent Secretariat’s staff regulations; salary exempt from Austrian income tax
