The Global Programme Food Security of the Swiss Agency for Development and Cooperation (SDC) is looking for innovative initiatives to contribute to food systems’ improvements and transformative and sustainable impacts on poor people. In order to do so the SDC launches four Calls for Proposals.

Deadline to submit is 28 August 2020.

Growing scientific evidence calls for an urgent and profound transformation of the global food system in order to address the multiple burdens on environmental and human health. Business as usual and upscaling of current practices will not only exacerbate the current devastating impacts on health, environment and society, but could ultimately threaten food security in an unprecedented way at a global scale.

To address this problem in a sustainable manner, the Global Programme Food Security of the Swiss Agency for Development and Cooperation (SDC) is looking for innovative initiatives. With the help of multi-stakeholder approaches, the following should be achieved:

  • promoting social, technological and organizational innovations,
  • making strategic use of economic incentives,
  • testing new forms of governance,
  • changing individual and collective values and behavior

All approaches aim to contribute to food systems’ improvements and transformative and sustainable impacts on poor people.

The Global Programme Food Security launches the following four Calls for Proposals:

  1. Call for Proposals: Human rights in food systems
  2. Call for Proposals: Promoting responsible (VGGT compliant) land-based investment practices
  3. Call for Proposals: Agrobiodiversity for food security and nutrition
  4. Call for Proposals: Nutrition in secondary cities
