The focus of this meeting will be on transformative change – what it means, how it occurs, and the roles that all actors can play in promoting and accelerating it.
The IPBES capacity-building forum brings together institutions and organizations supporting, or interested in supporting, the work on capacity-building under IPBES. It provides an arena to increase engagement and facilitate cooperation around specific thematic capacity-building areas. The forum facilitates dialogue and knowledge sharing to explore and advance common agendas and long-term alignment of relevant programmes and activities among participants.
The eighth meeting of the IPBES capacity-building forum will build on the knowledge foundations provided in the IPBES Transformative Change Assessment Report, the Nexus Assessment Report, the Values Assessment Report and the first Global Assessment Report on Biodiversity and Ecosystem Services. It will provide an opportunity for individuals and institutions to gain an increased understanding of what transformative change means, how it occurs and reflect on the potential roles that all actors can take in promoting and accelerating transformative change. Participants will engage in interactive exercises to explore their own roles in driving change, share experiences, discuss initiatives, and explore communities of practice to support the uptake of transformative change messages in recent IPBES assessments.
The meeting will be open to individuals and institutions, including Government representatives, IPBES collaborative supporters, and other organizations, institutions, and networks who are supporting and/or interested in contributing to the capacity-building work of IPBES. The meeting will be conducted in English with no interpretation. The meeting will be held online on 23 September from 1pm to 4 p.m. CEST.
