Within the Henriette Hertz Programme of the Alexander von Humboldt Foundation, Prof. Berta MartÃn-López seeks to attract an outstanding early-career researcher from abroad who has completed a PhD within the last four years.
The selected candidate will work at the Social-Ecological Systems Institute (SESI) at the Leuphana University of Lüneburg in Germany, a research institute that uses place-based social-ecological systems thinking to foster sustainable and just futures.
Applicants should demonstrate experience in and enthusiasm for conducting social-ecological systems research that intends to foster transformative change. The candidate gaining the fellowship will gain access to the prestigious Humboldt Network.
Please send your expression of interest by 30 May 2026 to Berta MartÃn-López (berta.martin-lopez@leuphana.de) in a single PDF file, including a max. one-page motivation letter (indicating potential linkages between your research interests and SESI’s research activities), and a CV.
For this fellowship, applicants do not have to go through the formal review process of the Alexander von Humboldt Foundation, but will instead be directly nominated by Berta MartÃn-López. One person will be identified by mid-June 2026 to start working in October 2026.
